Klassifikation der Wirtschaftszweige (WZ) is the national activity classification used in DE. Businesses receive one or more WZ codes when they register, and those codes drive tax, statistical and regulatory reporting.

WZ is aligned with NACE Rev. 2.1 at the 4-digit class level. National extensions add extra digits to describe activities in more detail without breaking comparability with the rest of the EU.
