CNAE 2025 — the new activity classification
CNAE 2025 replaces CNAE-2009 as the Spain version. This page summarises what changes, when it takes effect and how to bridge existing data.
CNAE 2025 keeps a 4-digit structure but redefines several activity areas: digital platforms and data centres, renewable energy, circular economy, and the frontier between industry and services. Most codes carry over unchanged; a smaller set is split, merged or renumbered.

FAQ
- When does CNAE 2025 become mandatory?
- CNAE 2025 enters legal force in 2025. Most reporting cycles switch immediately; a transition window runs until 2027 so historical series can be re-expressed.
- Do I need to renumber my registered activity?
- Most codes carry over. If your activity falls in an area that was split or merged, the national register will notify you or publish an automatic mapping.
- How does NACEBridge handle both versions?
- The converter and the lookup tool expose both the legacy and the new code so you can work with historical partners, EU databases and national filings without losing traceability.
