CAENACE

CAE ↔ NACE converter

Convert a CAE Rev. 4 code to the matching European NACE class — or back. The first 4 digits of CAE are the NACE class; the 5th digit is the Portuguese subclass.

CAE Rev. 4 (INE) is aligned with NACE Rev. 2.1 (Eurostat). Every 5-digit CAE code (e.g. 62010) shares its first 4 digits with a NACE class (e.g. 62.01).

This converter returns the parent NACE class for any CAE, together with the matching group, division and section.

Beyond NACE, you can convert your CAE to the equivalent in other European countries (NAF, WZ, CNAE…).

FAQ

Are CAE and NACE the same code?
Not exactly. The first 4 digits are identical; CAE adds a 5th national digit for more detail.
How do I find the NACE class for a CAE?
Take the first 4 digits of the CAE and insert a dot after the second (62010 → 62.01). That's your NACE class.
