Considera-se hotel rural um estabelecimento hoteleiro que cumpra os requisitos de classificação aplicáveis a esta tipologia, que se destina a prestar, em espaços rurais, serviços de alojamento a turistas, preservando, recuperando e valorizando o património arquitetónico, histórico, natural e paisagístico dos respetivos locais e regiões onde se situam, podendo instalar-se em edifícios existentes ou construídos de raiz.
